2024 Robin Hood Benefit Gala: Supporting a Worthy Cause for New York City

It was an honor to attend Robin Hood’s 2024 Annual Benefit Gala, a spectacular evening dedicated to helping New Yorkers escape poverty. It’s inspiring to see the remarkable work being done by co-founders Paul Tudor Jones and Glenn Dubin, who have led Robin Hood to raise nearly $100 million for this year’s event. Their dedication to lifting up our city’s most vulnerable is nothing short of incredible, and the impact they’re making is being felt across all five boroughs.

On May 14, 2024, more than 3,000 people gathered at the Javits Center in support of Robin Hood, the largest poverty-fighting philanthropy in New York.

It was a privilege to witness the unity of individuals who are committed to making a difference.

Robin Hood announced the launch of its new initiative, Stronger Schools, Brighter Futures. This innovative program, developed in partnership with the Relay Graduate School of Education, will provide leadership training to principals and superintendents in New York City public schools, empowering them to create better educational outcomes for the 915,000 students enrolled in these schools.

By fostering strong leadership, Robin Hood is making a direct impact on the future of education in our city.

Paul Tudor Jones, one of the visionary leaders behind Robin Hood, shared his thoughts on the gala, saying, “This was a magical night. Thousands of giving New Yorkers came together to support an education initiative that may one day substantively advance all 915,000 kids in public schools in New York. It starts from an enduring belief that where you start out in life should not determine where you end up.”

His words resonate deeply with all who attended, reaffirming the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive, no matter their background or circumstances.

Each year, Robin Hood’s annual benefit serves as a critical source of funding for its wide-reaching efforts.

More than half of the organization’s grantmaking resources come from this single night, enabling Robin Hood to support local organizations that provide services ranging from emergency food aid and housing to education and job training.

Robin Hood’s CEO Richard R. Buery Jr. emphasized the significance of this work, stating, “The generosity of our supporters is critical to our mission of helping our neighbors on the path to economic opportunity, and building a more equitable New York City.”

Reflecting on the event, I am always in awe of the sheer scale of what Robin Hood accomplishes. The success of the gala would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of so many.

As someone deeply invested in philanthropy and New York City, I am proud to support Robin Hood’s mission. This year’s gala was more than just a night of entertainment—it was a celebration of what we can achieve when we come together to fight for the future of our city.

In closing, I can only say how humbled I am by the unwavering commitment of everyone involved with Robin Hood. As Paul Tudor Jones and Glenn Dubin continue to lead this movement, the future of New York City looks brighter with each passing year.

Robin Hood is doing extraordinary work, and it’s an honor to be part of their mission to create a better future for all New Yorkers.
