Audrey Gruss is a legend – she created this event and should be sainted for her good works.
I was fortunate to be there and see Audrey Gruss at the finish line, high-fiving, all who crossed!
What an amazing person and a great morning for a wonderful cause.

On a beautiful Saturday morning, my family and I joined hundreds of Palm Beach residents for the annual Race of Hope 5K Walk & Run at Bradley Park. This event, organized by the Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF), has become more than just a race – it’s a symbol of our community’s commitment to mental health awareness and research.
As we gathered at the starting line, the energy was palpable. Families and friends stood side by side, ready to embark on the scenic 3.1-mile route along the Palm Beach Lake Trail.
The diversity of participants was striking – from seasoned runners to leisurely walkers, young children to older adults – all united by a common purpose: to raise awareness and support for the fight against depression.

The Race of Hope is more than just a physical challenge; it’s a powerful reminder that when a community comes together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by depression and anxiety.
The event, presented by Findlay Galleries, has grown into a cornerstone of Palm Beach’s community calendar.
It’s an opportunity for education, connection, and hope. Information booths lined the park, offering resources and sparking important conversations about mental health.
HDRF’s Depression Task Force, a collaborative effort of top neuroscientists, is making significant progress in identifying genes linked to depression and anxiety. This research is crucial, and the funds raised through the Race of Hope directly support these vital efforts.
As the last participants crossed the finish line, there was a sense of collective achievement in the air. We had not only completed a physical challenge but had also taken a significant step towards destigmatizing mental health issues and supporting crucial research. Participants received a finisher medal, and the top racers and fundraisers were recognized for their achievements.

Charles Holzer and friends enjoying the Race for Hope in Palm Beach, Florida.
Participating in the Race of Hope with my family has become an annual tradition for us, one that we cherish deeply. It’s a chance to teach our children about empathy, community involvement, and the importance of mental health. As we left Bradley Park that day, tired but fulfilled, I couldn’t help but feel optimistic about the future – a future where events like these continue to bring us together, fostering understanding, and driving progress in mental health research.
We were proud to support the Race for Hope in Palm Beach, FL. From the desk of Charles Holzer.
